Guests love the barbecue area

A few years ago, the whole area around Sailor House was completely renovated. In the kitchen, guests could experience brand new appliances, a beautiful new floor and almost the entire bathroom section in the house was replaced from head to toe.

The barbecue area is a chapter in itself. Today, it’s part of the ‘Compass’ shelter area, where there are four gas barbecues that are free to use.

The four gas barbecues switch on automatically every day at 17.30 and switch off again at 22.00.

If the ‘opening time’ of the barbecue is hard to remember, the visiting sailors just have to think in traffic terms because when the barbecue is on, there is a green light that lights up at the barbecue site and a red one that lights up when the gas is off.

“Guests have welcomed the area’s lovely improvements. The new barbecue area around the Compass has been especially well-received, and I promise that it’s used frequently,” says harbour master Klaus Jensen.

When it’s time to eat, there are tables and benches for around 100 people, where you can sit together or separately - either way, you can be part of the community in the area.

So, enjoy and bon appétit!
